Brian Marshall, Maple, ONT
Canadian Brian Marshall shares his experiences and perspectives from the far north. A tournament fisherman for the past 15 years, and Top 20 qualifier to the 1999 Canadian Classic, Brian finds himself most at home on lakes with hard, rocky bottoms and high water clarity. Hands-down, the double-tailed Hula Grub is his favorite bait. He’s caught larger fish, more often, on that bait than any bait he’s used, bar none. Brian rigs it for a slow fall and makes his casts over rocky points and shoals, allowing it to fall right into the rocks, then works it with short, quick lifts (to emulate a crawfish-like swimming action) before letting it fall back amongst the
rocks. Marshall operates a successful on-line sports site. Look him up at www.greatnorthernprostore.com. |

Don Roberts, Bellville, OH
Ohio native Don Roberts, a retired Army Drill Sergeant, is very active on the tournament scene. Winner of dozens of regional and local tournaments, to include the Wal-Mart series tournaments. Don has qualified for multiple State tournaments, and was named Angler of the Year for the North-Central Ohio Bassmasters two years in a row.
Most of all, Don enjoys fishing the Great Lakes and Lake St. Clair for the bronzeback beauties of the north. Don prefers to toss anything plastic - tubes, grubs, and rapidly rising to the top of his list, the Senko! |

Jeff Steinke, International Falls, MN
Jeff Steinke grew up in Ontario at Reef Point, on Rainy Lake. He cut his micropterus teeth at age fourteen, guiding out of Shannon's Camp and Silver Musky Lodge on Rainy. Jeff fishes practically every day and has kept records detailing the various "triggering factors" since the beginning. At this point its a safe bet that there are few rocks in Northwestern Ontario that Steinke hasn't rolled over, just to see what secrets they hold.
Steinke is married, with one daughter, and considers himself blessed to have a family that loves to fish. An electrician by trade, he still guides during choice time periods, specifically targeting big fish. Smallmouth are his primary target, although any big fish, particularly Musky, have been known to cloud his decision making process at times.
